I have a diplomatic passport. Do I have to apply for an eTA?
Yes. Travelers holding diplomatic passports who are members of Diplomatic Missions or International Organizations accredited to Kenya are required to apply for an eTA before travel.
Do I need to pay for my eTA as a diplomat?
If you hold a diplomatic passport, you are not required to pay for the standard eTA. However, if you wish to expedite your application, you may opt to pay for priority or faster processing services.
We are travelling as a couple/group. Is one eTA enough for all of us?
An eTA is required for each passenger when travelling as a group. When starting your application, select Apply as a Group.
How do I apply for the eTA?
Applying for a Kenya eTA is simple and can be done entirely online:
- 1. Visit the Application Portal: Start your application on our website or the official Kenya eTA platform.
- 2. Complete the Form: Provide personal details, passport information, travel plans, and any required supporting documents.
- 3. Pay the Fees: Submit the Kenya Government fee and service fee (if applying through a service provider).
- 4. Submit Your Application: Review your information carefully and submit the application.
- 5. Receive Approval: Once approved, your eTA will be sent to your email. Print a copy or save it digitally to present upon arrival in Kenya.
What documents are required for an ETA application?
Requirements vary slightly per category, but typically include:
- Valid passport (minimum 6 months validity with at least one blank page)
- Selfie or passport-type photo
- Contact details (email & phone number)
- Travel itinerary (arrival & departure)
- Accommodation booking confirmation
- Payment method (credit/debit card, etc.)
How long does it take to process an ETA?
Applications are generally processed within three (3) business days/72 hours but may take longer depending on the verification processes. For urgent applications, expedited option is available and is processed immediately.
How do I track my ETA application?
To track your application, click the “Check Status” button on the homepage and enter the reference number that was sent to your email after the application.
Can someone apply on behalf of others?
Yes, just ensure that the traveler’s information is provided and you indicate that you are applying on their behalf when finishing the application.
