Instructions for Applicants – Kenya eTA

General Requirements

1. Mandatory for All Travelers

  • All visitors, including children and infants, must obtain an approved Kenya eTA before starting their journey.
  • Each traveler must submit a separate application.

2. Passport Validity

  • Your passport must be valid for at least six (6) months from the date of arrival in Kenya.
  • The passport must have at least one blank page for entry and exit stamps.

3. Processing Time

  • Standard processing takes approximately 3 working days.
  • Some applications may take longer; applicants are advised to apply in advance.

4. Duration of Stay

  • The approved eTA is valid for 90 days from the date of issuance.
  • The length of stay in Kenya will be determined by the Immigration Officer at the port of entry.

Documents Needed

  • When applying, you will need to upload/submit:
  • Valid passport copy (bio-data page).
  • Recent passport-style photograph or selfie.
  • Travel itinerary (arrival and departure details).
  • Proof of accommodation (hotel booking or host details).
  • Valid payment method (credit/debit card).

Additional documents may be required depending on the purpose of your visit, such as:
  • Business Travel: Invitation letter from the company and a copy of company registration.
  • Family Visit: Invitation letter from host and a copy of host’s ID/passport.
  • Medical Visit: Appointment or referral letter from a hospital/doctor.
  • Conference/Events: Invitation or participation letter.
  • Diplomatic/Official Travel: Diplomatic/Official passport and official letter from the respective authority.

Important Instructions

  • Double-check that all details entered match exactly as shown on your passport.
  • Incomplete or incorrect applications may be delayed or rejected.
  • Application fees are non-refundable once submitted, regardless of the outcome.
  • Carry a printed or digital copy of your approved eTA when traveling.
  • Possession of an eTA does not guarantee entry into Kenya. The final decision rests with the Immigration Officer at the entry point.
